Justice Peters received her law degree from Yale in 1954, and is the first woman professor to be granted tenure at the Yale Law School. In 1978, Justice Peters became the first woman to be named justice on the Connecticut Supreme Court, and became the first female Chief Justice in Connecticut History in 1984.
