In a world where globalization dominates the media, we look forward to hearing the insight of Consul General Deo, an economist, as she addresses the realities of India’s rapidly growing economy and continually expanding population and explores the opportunities and challenges the country is facing. Consul General Neelam Deo is a career diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service with over three decades in the Indian Diplomatic Corps. Ms. Deo has been India’s ambassador to Denmark and Ivory Coast, with concurrent accreditation to Sierra Leone, Niger and Guinea. Prior to her assignment in New York, she was Head of the Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, dealing with India’s overall relations with those countries. Ms. Deo has also worked in India’s Diplomatic Missions in Bangkok, Rome and Washington, DC. She has a master’s degree in Economics and has taught at Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University.
