Apply to be a Dwight Hall Summer Fellow

Apply to be a 2011 Dwight Hall Summer Fellow! Initiated in 1968, the Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship Program is an eight-week, paid program for five Yale undergraduates who propose projects designed to address community needs. Fellows typically work with established non-profit organizations or civic groups to craft and execute their projects. During the summer Fellows gather for weekly lunches or dinners to meet with community leaders, discuss the broader context of their work, and reflect on the progress of their proposed goals. Since its inception nearly 40 years ago, this innovative program has sponsored projects that have had a significant impact on the New Haven and Dwight Hall communities. Columbus House, Fair Haven Community Health Center, the Community Soup Kitchen, the New Haven Halfway House, Marrakech, Inc., and Unity House all began as Summer Fellowship projects. The goals of the Summer Fellowship program are: • To enable student leaders to develop and execute outcome-based projects responsive to identified critical needs in the community; • To develop collaborative relationships with existing non-profits and civic leaders to address such needs; and • To provide a forum for students to reflect on the nature and quality of their work with other student leaders and community partners. The 2011 Fellowship program dates are Thursday, June 2 through Wednesday, July 27. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis until further notice.
