Heads up all you actors, singers, singer-songwriters, musicians, comics... in a word, performers out to make your mark in the Apple. In line with our mandate to bring creative arts folk together, YAAMNY Arts/Entertainment is planning a series of performance parties. We have secured the use of a large pleasant space in Brooklyn, complete with a piano, excellent PA system - and inexpensive food and drink, and will hold an organizational meeting and tryouts for our first Performers' Round-up on Saturday, February 13th. If you want to participate in the round-up, please join us on for this meeting and be ready to give us a sample of what you can do. Performers must limit themselves to 10-12 minutes.

The actual YAAMNY Arts Performers' Round-Up will be in April, details to be posted on the YAAMNY website soon. After the performance there will be time for informal networking. And you don't have to be on stage to come to the performance; just be ready to enjoy yourself and meet alumni/ae in all the arts, all ages, all stages of their careers.

Please notify me ASAP ([email address hidden]) if you will be joining us on February 13 for try-outs, and tell me what type of performer you are.

FELA! on Broadway
Enter the extravagant, decadent, rebellious world of a legendary musician. A provocative hybrid of dance and Broadway musical, FELA! features the Afrobeat music of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, a book by Jim Lewis and the direction and choreography of Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones.

His Passion Ignited a Generation.
His Music Fueled a Revolution.
His Legacy Inspires the World.

FELA! uses stirring Afrobeat music (a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies), to tell the story of Kuti's controversial life as artist, political activist and revolutionary musician. Featuring many of Fela Kuti's most captivating songs and Bill T. Jones's visionary staging, FELA! is the most original new musical on Broadway. Come for the music. Come for the dancing. Come awaken your soul.

YAAMNY Peri Metropolis Tour of Modern Parks

The Arts and Entertainment Committee of the Yale Alumni Association of Metropolitan New York (YAAMNY), in collaboration with the Peri Metropolis Walk and Talk New York, hosts an afternoon of contemporary landscape architecture. The walking tour will meet at Battery Park Bosque (just south of Castle Clinton), right in front of Picnick food kiosk.

Teresa Jan '04, registered architect, urban design faculty at NYIT, and co-founder of Peri Metropolis, will guide alumni through contemporary urban park designs along the lower Hudson waterfront, such as Battery Park Bosque (2005), Irish Hunger Memorial (2002), Teardrop Parks (2004), and The High Line (2009). The tour will trace the evolution of park design and also highlight New York' s desire and recent efforts to reclaim the waterfront and revitalize the area through effective micro ecosystems. Immediately after the tour, Laura Starr, landscape architects of Battery Park Bosque and principal of Starrwhitehouse Architects, and Juergen Rheim FAIA, co-founder of 1100 Architect and architect in charge of Irish Hunger Memorial, are happy to meet with Yale participants at the restaurant The Park (118 10th Ave.) for further discussion.

All are welcome, including friends and family. Please bring a metro-card for a bus ride from North Battery Park to the High Line. Pre-registration is required. Due to the intimate experience of having a personalized walking tour and discussion, the tour is limited to 10 people. Tickets are $25 before November 12, $30 after. Register now at http://perimetro.eventbrite.com/.

The Yale Alumni Association of Metropolitan New York in collaboration with Insider Expeditions presents After Hours at Tracy Williams with artist Alyssa Pheobus '04.

Join Ms. Phoebus (ES '04) for an intimate after-hours discussion and aperitif inside the prestigious West Village gallery on the occasion of her solo exhibition. Alyssa Pheobus' stunning large-scale pencil drawings excavate the lyrics of love songs. Elegant in their execution, these handmade text drawings resemble machine-stitched fabric. A native of Frederick, Maryland, Pheobus earned a BA from Yale in 2004 and an MFA from Columbia in 2008. Her awards include a 2009 NYFA Fellowship in Printmaking, Drawing and Books Arts; a 2008-09 Workspace Residency at Dieu Donné; and a full fellowship to attend the Yale in Norfolk residency program. Her work has been featured in shows at Bellwether Gallery, Dieu Donne, and Deitch Studios, and in print in The New York Times and Art in America. She is currently preparing for her second New York solo exhibition at Tracy Williams Ltd.

Share an evening of drink and discussion with this exciting young artist. Enjoy the work on display in this unique setting, and an engaging discussion of Ms. Pheobus' methods and motives. Early registration $10, or $15 after November 2. Space is limited, and we expect this exclusive after-hours event to sell-out. Register today at http://artwalk-pheobus.eventbrite.com.

**If you are able to bring your own camera and take pictures during the event, you can attend for free. Please contact [email address hidden].
