Happy new year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that your 2010 is off to a great start.

As the YAAMNY Board started planning for this year, we reviewed the events of 2009 and realized how much we accomplished. Did you know that last year YAAMNY sponsored/organized (either solely or in partnership with other organizations) more than 70 events, including 17 activities on Yale Day of Service? In comparison to previous years, YAAMNY organized more events in 2009 than in the past 10 years combined.

More important than the number of events is the *variety* -- educational speakers & panel discussions, volunteer opportunities, career networking events, family-friendly activities, art gallery tours, informal happy hours, and so on -- all in an effort to address the diverse interests of our broad constituent base.

Many thanks to the dedicated YAAMNY board and committee members who have contributed a tremendous amount of time, talent, and energy to provide opportunities for alumni to gather. YAAMNY has also made a concerted effort to improve alumni outreach, through focus group sessions, more frequent newsletters, and interactive online outlets such as the YAAMNY Facebook group -- see http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=info&gid=7283875910 to join. We are encouraged by the number of alumni who have attended YAAMNY events and provided positive feedback.

To continue to offer these activities, we need your support. Our mission is to welcome all Yale alumni to participate without any membership dues and with minimal and reasonable event fees. To make this commitment possible we have launched a month-long Kick-Off 2010 Fundraising/Friendraising Campaign. Please consider donating some seed money to get this year off to a great start -- go to http://yaamny-kickoff2010.eventbrite.com/. We welcome all contributions -- even token amounts -- and all types, whether in-kind donations of supplies or event space, volunteer services, or great ideas. We just want you to get involved and connected with Yalies here in the city.

Thank you for your ongoing support of YAAMNY! Together we are building a greater sense of community for, and engagement with, Yale's large alumni base in the metropolitan New York area.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2010!
