YAAMNY - Smart Matters - Lori Laitman's "Becoming a Redwood" April 1, 2007

Sarah Long, soprano and Christopher Johnson, piano, will present a concert of art songs on April 1 at 3 pm at Riverside Church. They will perform "Becoming a Redwood" by Lori Laitman, Yale '75 BA, '76 MM. This song cycle features the poetry of Dana Gioia. Also on the program are songs by Berlioz, Poulenc, Messiaen and a new song cycle by Jonathan Bailey. Gramophone Magazine recently reviewed Lori's latest CD, saying "This disc gives increasing evidence of a major talent -- Laitman's beautiful songs deserve to be performed widely".
