I am on the Advisory Board of the theater company Oslo Elsewhere. Oslo Elsewhere's mission is to bring the most innovative plays and ideas about contemporary theater from Norway to the United States, and vice versa. It is the first company to produce the work of Jon Fosse - arguably *the* hottest contemporary playwright in Europe - in the United States. You can read more about the artistic directors' theories of translation and explore rave reviews & photos of previous projects online at www.osloelsewhere.org. In September 2008, Oslo Elsewhere will be producing its new American-English translation of "Sa Ka La" by Jon Fosse at The Theaters at 45 Bleecker. I would be honored if any of you would join me in my personal support and engagement for this ground-breaking work. I would be delighted to see you on June 19th, 2008 at Oslo Elsewhere's summer SA-KA-LAnd Extravaganza. It is to be held at a chic Lower East Side apartment, with a dazzling roof deck. All proceeds from this benefit will go towards Oslo Elsewhere's upcoming production. In true Norwegian fashion, they will have an open Christiania Vodka bar. Also, there will be performances by funky soul-singer SiLyA and avant-garde saxophone player Håkon Kornstad.
