It is also about the mind as universe, where language is internal astronomy.
It shows us that more than hearts can be broken.
--Toby Zinman, Variety

NIGHT SKY explores what the great physicist Stephen Hawking has called the two remaining mysteries the brain and the cosmos. The play looks at what happens to a brilliant, articulate astronomer, her family and career when she is struck by a car and loses her ability to speak, a condition known as aphasia. What emerges from her mouth is a hodgepodge of disconnected words alternately poetic, funny, confusing and profound. Anna, her loved ones and colleagues, face uncommon challenges of mind and spirit as they struggle to learn new ways to communicate, and what it really means to listen.

Produced by Stan Raiff/Power Productions, New York, Inc. (producer of Broadway's IRENA?S VOW) in association with the National Aphasia Association, NIGHT SKY is written by Susan Yankowitz and directed by Daniella Topol. The play was commissioned, inspired by, and is dedicated to the memory of Joe Chaikin, the much-revered actor, director, and founder of the Open Theatre. The cast includes Jordan Baker, Lauren Ashley Carter, Dan Domingues, Tuck Milligan, Maria-Christina Oliveras and Jim Stanek.

Tickets can be purchased through and and are available at the box office on the day of performance at a reduced price.
