Father Roy Bourgeois, Maryknoll priest and founder of School of the Americas Watch, will be speaking at the St. Thomas More Catholic Chapel at 7:30pm, Wednesday, February 14th. The School of the Americas (SOA), now officially known as the Western Hemishpere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC), is a US Army school located at Fort Benning, Georgia, which trains Latin American military officers in counter-narcotics and counter-insurgency operations. Many graduates of the SOA have been accused/convicted of committing human rights abuses against their fellow citizens in countries such as Guatemala and Colombia.
