You're invited to the first annual Alexander Capelluto Foundation Fundraiser, March 2, 2007 at 9:30pm - 12:30am in the Tap Room! ACF (www.alexcap.org), is an organization founded in memory of Alex Capelluto, a 20-year old Yale Junior, who was struck and killed by a truck as he was riding his bicycle back to campus after crew practice, days before starting out on a 4,000 mile bicycle ride to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Tickets are $50 online at www.alexcap.org, "Donate Now" tab, Special Events at bottom of page. $60 at the door (cash or check only) All are welcome, and we hope to see you there! About the Foundation: The Alexander Capelluto Foundation (ACF) awards grants to high school and college students. Currently we are in two schools (Horace Mann Upper Division and Yale University), but as we raise more money, we will be expanding to additional universities. At Yale, it can be very difficult for students on scholarship to afford even the basics, such as a personal computers, textbooks, laboratory fees, musical instruments, cameras, art supplies. We'll provide funds to students who need help paying for costs that are associated with classes but are not covered in their financial aid packages. The next incoming class will be the first beneficiaries, and as we raise more money, we plan to expand to other Universities. At Horace Mann, we'll be giving a $2,500 grant to a high school Junior for a community service project to be implemented in the summer before senior year.
