Making a Difference in Monterrey, Mexico

March 7-15, 2009

Student applications are still being accepted - download the application here.

The Association of Yale Alumni and Dwight Hall invite you to join us for the next Yale Service Tour to Monterrey, Mexico!

Building on the incredible success of our inaugural Yale Service Tour last March, we are proud to continue this initiative, which brings alumni and students together to share their passion and talents with communities in need. The AYA and Dwight Hall have forged a partnership with the University Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Consejo de Desarrollo Social--the social services institute for the region--enabling us to offer this powerful volunteer program in Mexico during March 2009.

This Service Tour will engage Yale alumni and students--together with local volunteers--providing crucial community development, enrichment programs, and medical care in and around the city of Monterrey.

The program includes an array of volunteer projects, designed to match the skills of our alumni participants and to address the particular needs of each community we serve. Our service projects will range from medical clinics to education, athletics, arts enrichment, construction, small business management, and others.

Yale Service Tours enable you, as participants, to work side by side with local community members--helping, teaching, learning, and forming friendships you will never forget. Participants will also delve into the Monterrey region's culture and history through lectures, evening excursions, celebrations, and informal discussion.

We hope you will join fellow alumni and friends in March to share this moving experience. Your time and talent will make a world of difference!

Dwight Hall gratefully acknowledges the Yale Club of New Haven for

providing $7,000 in student scholarships for this tour.

What type of difference can we make?

See what happened on last year's tour, when nearly 100 Yale alumni, current students, and friends gathered in the Dominican Republic from March 9 - 17, 2008 to participate in the inaugural Yale Service Tour 2008: Home, Health, and Heart.  The trip was organized by the Association of Yale Alumni and Dwight Hall at Yale in partnership with the Diocese of Orlando and the people of the San Juan province of the Dominican Republic.
