As we hope you've heard, Yale is hosting the inaugural global alumni Day of Service on May 16. If you have not signed up, we encourage you to do so by visiting the following site:

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow alumni while participating in Yale's long tradition of community service. In partnership with the Yale Club of New York City and other Yale groups, YAAMNY has  confirmed 17 organizations for a wide range of activities: cleaning up parks, serving food at a soup kitchen, painting/restoring a boat, service projects for children, and tutoring low-income families to name a few. There's bound to be something that meets your interest, so sign up soon before your preferred activity reaches capacity! Families and other guests are welcome to join you.

As an additional incentive, there will be prizes - including an iPod Shuffle - for several lucky volunteers whose names are drawn by activity leaders on May 16.

Meanwhile, this Saturday, join alumni at the Cherry Blossom Festival and/or the afternoon presentation by photojournalist and Yale alumna Scout Tufankjian '00, whose book Yes We Can: Barack Obama's History-Making Presidential Campaign covers Obama's historic journey from junior Senator to President of the United States. Scout was the only photographer to cover Obama's entire campaign. Be sure to sign up below for these events!

For the avid or aspiring runners among you, YAAMNY is organizing the first-ever alumni trip to Iceland for the August 22 marathon (includes half-marathon, 10K, and 3K).
