The Greater New Haven Labor History Association is pleased to announce an opening for a part time (20 hours per week) outreach coordinator to begin January 1st, 2010. Starting rate is $20/hour; unfortunately, we can’t offer benefits at this time.  

Job Description

The Outreach Coordinator will assist the Archivist/Director and the Executive Board to:

  • Broaden the membership base of the organization
  • Develop and produce public programs to increase the organization’s visibility in the greater New Haven area
  • Initiate and promote organizational participation and representation in the public programs of other organizations
  • Produce attractive written materials to publicize the organization’s goals and programs


    Obviously, anyone applying for this job should be familiar with and supportive of unions

    and the labor movement, and must be comfortable with public speaking. The ideal

    candidate for the job will be a self-starter who has experience with membership


    Further qualifications for the position include:

  1. Experience working for small non-profits
  2. Knowledge of resources, people and organizations in the greater New Haven area
  3. Ability to work as part of a team
  4. Computer literacy, preferably with some experience in newsletter and/or brochure layout and design
  5. Working knowledge of U.S. history; college degree preferred
  6. Excellent written and verbal communications skills
