Dr. Heimer has made scientific investigations of the morality and morbidity associated with injection drug use (syringe exchange programs, HIV survival in syringes, hepatitis B vaccination, hepatitis C transmission risks, overdose prevention and resuscitation, pharmacological treatment of opiate addiction). He is the�Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Methods Core at Yales Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS, and Director of the Yale office of CT Emerging Infections Program
