NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- Budget cuts have a major animal care organization begging for donations.
New York City Animal Care and Control says it needs money to buy pet food. It also is accepting donated blankets, towels, rubber toys and kitty litter.
The not-for-profit organization runs shelters under a contract with the city Health Department. It has to cut $300,000 from its budget by June and another $400,000 in the next fiscal year.
Good Samaritans are asked to call 718-788-4000 or go to the Web site.
