The next YHHAP Shelter Now Campaign meeting is this Tuesday, September 14th at 9:00pm in the YHHAP room! (The YHHAProom is on the left side-second floor of Dwight Hall. Stairs are located in the foyer to the left of the center Chapel.) 

Shelter Now is a student-run campaign that raises political awareness and money to make sure that every resident of New Haven is provided shelter in the winter. Shelter Now began in the fall of 2008 in response to the closing of the Cedar St. overflow shelter, leaving 125 men without a place to stay at night. Since that time we, along with community partners, have mobilized to raise the money necessary to keep the shelter open. 

Shelter Now has raised over $70,000 in two years. This semester, we hope to raise at least $25,000 to alleviate additional cuts to homeless shelters in the city.

Join Shelter Now if you are interested in:
1. finding creative and lucrative ways to fundraise (ex. YHHAP FAST, Sleepout on Old Campus and Faculty Lunches). 
2. increasing awareness on campus about homelessness, and gaining more of an understanding about it yourself.
3. getting more involved in the politics and policy behind sheltering the homeless.
4. gaining invaluable experience with organizing school-wide events such as faculty lunches, a discussion panel, and the Sleepout
