IRIS - Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services - is New Haven County's refugee resettlement agency. Our mission is to help refugees and other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut's communities. We currently resettle about 200 refugees yearly from Iraq, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Bhutan, and Eritrea.
There are plentiful ways that volunteers can get involved with IRIS's daily work with refugees! Volunteer opportunities include: Health Care Assistance, Donations and Apartment Set-up, Case Management Support, Acculturation and Resettlement Assistance, Interpreters and Translators, Childcare, Food Bank Support, Employment Services Support, General Administrative Support, English Language Tutoring, and retail support at the IRIS thrift shop boutique (Clothes without Borders).
Please contact Margaret Zhang, the IRIS Volunteer Coordinator, to get involved!
