The Public School Intern program places Yale undergraduate liaisons
at schools throughout New Haven. Established in 1996 by the Dwight
Hall Executive Committee, the program was designed to make Yale
volunteerism more effective for public schools. Interns devote
themselves to learning school environments, gaining the trust of
faculty, and connecting their schools with Dwight Hall and Yale
resources that align with school objectives. Interns recruit tutors,
organize cultural performances, arrange field trips, sort library
books, schedule workshops, and mentor students. Currently seventeen in
number, the interns serve for two years. For more information about
the intern program, please contact Peter Fishman.
