Soprano Eileen Strempel and pianist Sylvie Beaudette have fashioned an engaging program of musical settings of Margaret Atwood poetry, all newly commissioned works by some of the top female composers of our time. Eileen and Sylvie will open with "Orange Afternoon Lover" by Lori Laitman ('75 BA, '76 MM) and will also perform works by Libby Larsen, Amanda Harberg, Tania León and Judith Cloud. Gramophone Magazine recently reviewed Lori's newest CD, saying "This disc gives increasing evidence of a major talent — Laitman's beautiful, sensitively crafted songs deserve to be performed widely."
