On April 19, 2007, New York Philomusica presents "From Haydn to Berkeley," a program that reflects the evolution from Baroque to contemporary and back again, featuring Michael Berkeley’s moving piece “Fierce Tears I & II” and the US Premiere of Joseph Haydn’s “Sextet in E-flat.” The concert will take place at 8 pm, with a pre-concert lecture at 7:30. PROGRAM: Jan Dismas Zelenka’s Sonata No. 2 in B-flat, for bassoon; Joseph Haydn’s Trio in E-flat, HobIV:5; Francois Couperin’s Selections from Pièces de clavecin (1730) for keyboard; Thomas Adès’ Sonata da Caccia, Op. 11, (1993); Michael Berkeley’s Fierce Tears I & II; and Joseph Haydn’s Sextet in E-flat, HobII:40 (U.S. premiere).
