Thursday, April 2: Health Advocacy Day

     Petition for Better Healthcare in CT, 2-5pm, Old Campus

  • Join the Public Health Coalition and the Yale Dems to stand up for better healthcare in Connecticut! We will be petitioning, handing out flyers and phonebanking, particularly trying to rally support for the SustiNet bill, which aims to establish universal healthcare in CT, that has just passed the Public Health Committee of the Connecticut legislature and will now move on to the wider legislative body. More information on healthcare problems in Connecticut and what PHC and the Dems are up to will also be available. Our advocacy headquarters will be right outside of Dwight Hall.

 

     John Q Film Screening, 8pm, Old Campus

  • The Public Health Coalition and the Yale Dems will be showing a brand-new Frontline documentary called Sick Around America, which addresses healthcare concerns around the country and shows us that healthcare disparities have increasingly become a divider between rich and poor, and one of the biggest civil rights issues of our time. We will also be showing the wonderful movie John Q, starring Denzel Washington, about a father desperate to get a heart transplant for his young son even when all the insurance outlets turn him down. This event will be informative and fun, so come on out and enjoy your Thursday night. Food will be provided.
