YAAMNY Public Service Committee and CREATIVE ARTS WORKSHOP 4 KIDS
Join CAW4KIDS and spent a Saturday afternoon engaged in a creative workshop for children ages 5-10. The workshops are designed to build social skills, enable self expression and provide a safe and peaceful play-time for kids. We are seeking 10 volunteers for the day between the hours of 11:30am and 3:30pm. Meals will not be provided during the event. The volunteers will serve as mentors during an instructor-led class. There will be 1 mentor for every 3 kids. The day begins with preparation and a general gathering of volunteers and the kids. Story-time begins and each mentor will assist the children with reading a story. Later the mentor will work with the children as they create an art project in response to the reading. At the end of the event the art work will be on display for participants and volunteers to view. This is a family friendly event. YALE-AIDS Walk New Haven
While only in its fifth year, the 5K walk has seen enormous success not only among Yale students, but the entire New Haven community. Founded by Yale students and organized by Yale students, the walk is an important part of the university's service towards the local community. With all proceeds going directly to the ten organizations on the Mayors Task Force on AIDS, the event addresses a greatly-overlooked health problem on the front lawn of our school. AIDS Walk New Haven is a great way for alumni to stay involved in giving back to the New Haven community. See the YAAMNY website for more information. New Haven Youth Event: Volunteers needed!
