Public Service Committee - ROCKING MANHATTAN FUNDRAISER REGATTA & Barbecue Party
Come Row for TEAM YALE, HAVE FUN, AND VOLUNTEER!
The day will culminate in a fabulous and fun filled afternoon Barbecue Party at Pier 40 (Houston Street and the Hudson River) with great food and drinks, terrific educational activities for kids and adults to learn about boat building, river life, and all things aquatic, and short boat rides on hand built wooden rowboats. To attend the tailgating party, we are asking for contributions in the form of a pledge donation to sponsor either a Yale boat or rower, all proceeds to benefit Rocking the Boat. We are looking for volunteers to help run this event, as well as rowers for the regatta, and participants/donors to come and join the fun. The day has several segments as follows: We are also looking for ROWERS to compete for Team Yale in hand-built wooden rowboats around Manhattan. The row is 26 miles and will be split into two shifts: a morning 5 hour shift and a 3 hour afternoon shift. Previous rowing experience is NOT required, but you would need to be reasonably fit. You will need to attend a rowing orientation prior to the event which will be on a weekday evening. This will be a fun event for the whole family - you can volunteer, row, or just come to cheer on the Yale rowers.
